Counselling that starts with you

Whatever you're facing, counselling can give you the time and space to understand what's happening and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Get in Touch

Life doesn't always go the way we expect.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed, anxious or stuck. Sometimes we struggle to understand why we're feeling the way we do. And sometimes we simply need a safe space to talk and make sense of things.

Counselling can give you that space. My approach is flexible and tailored to you as an individual. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, so we'll work together to understand what you need and find an approach that feels right for you.

Support for where you are now

A safe space to talk

Sometimes the first step is simply having someone who will listen without judgement. Counselling gives you the time and space to talk openly about whatever is on your mind.

When life feels overwhelming

Stress, anxiety and difficult emotions can make everyday life feel harder than it should. We can work together to understand what's happening and find ways to help you feel more able to cope.

When you're feeling stuck

You may feel that you're going around in circles, repeating the same patterns or struggling to know what to do next. Counselling can help you step back, gain a different perspective and explore what might help you move forward.

Understanding yourself

Understanding why we think, feel and behave in certain ways can be an important part of making changes. Together, we can explore what's behind your experiences and help you develop a greater understanding of yourself.

Relationships and life changes

Relationships, family, work and major changes in life can all affect our wellbeing. Whether you're dealing with conflict, loss, uncertainty or a difficult transition, counselling can provide support while you work through it.

Moving forward

Counselling isn't about telling you what you should do. It's about helping you explore your thoughts and feelings, understand what matters to you and find your own way forward.

A flexible approach, tailored to you

Everyone is different, and what helps one person may not help another. That's why I don't believe counselling should follow a rigid formula.

We'll work collaboratively, adapting our sessions to what you need at the time. Sometimes that might mean talking things through; sometimes it might involve looking at thoughts, feelings or behaviours in a different way; and sometimes it may simply be about having someone alongside you while you work through something difficult.

You don't need to know exactly what you need help with. You just need to take the first step.

What to expect from counselling

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, particularly if you've never spoken to a counsellor before. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to talk about. We can start wherever feels comfortable for you.

Your first session

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what has brought you to counselling. We'll discuss what's been happening for you, what you'd like to get from counselling and what you feel would be helpful.

There is no pressure to tell me everything straight away. You can take your time, ask questions and talk about things at your own pace.

Working together

Counselling is a collaborative process. I'll listen, ask questions and help you explore what you're experiencing, but you remain in control of what you choose to discuss.

As we get to know each other, we'll find an approach that works for you. What we focus on can change as you do, and we'll regularly check in with how things are going.

A space without judgement

Counselling is a place where you can speak openly and honestly about your thoughts, feelings and experiences. You don't have to put on a brave face or worry about saying the "right" thing.

My role is to listen, understand and support you without judgement.

Taking things at your pace

There is no set timetable for counselling. Some people come with a specific issue they want to work through, while others need more time to understand what they're feeling or what they want to change.

We'll work at a pace that feels right for you, with the aim of helping you feel more comfortable, confident and able to move forward.
